Not untitled anymore!

Until now he had a lot of names "Chappu kutti", "Nimma pandu", "Nandu", "pandu", "Chinni Chellam", "Pattu kutti" and on. After a long thought, considering atleast a few hundred shortlisted names, ensuring that the name is easily usable by all our close family, he is NOT untitled/noname anymore. He will be proudly called "Sarvajith". Phew! one big process done. Now I understand why it is really tough to choose the right name. Name is to be used comfortably by all. Choosing a name like "Kosaksi Pasapugazh" may sound fancier, but it be really tough to hear everyone around you killing the name.

You get a lot of good names for girls. Girls get a lot of choice, be it name, be it dress, be it ornaments. We had a good number of shortlisted names for a baby girl. But when it turned out to be a boy, aah! "I should start searching for a name". And it took nearly 45 days to get to those last 2 names. We wanted to give the choice to him to choose one of those two (Just to push back it to him in case if he doesn't like the name). He is Sarvajith, when split becomes Sarva (everything) and jith (victorious). Another inner meaning to it, 'Sar' from his mother's name and 'va' from his father's name. So the name.

Soon after finalizing the name the first big celebration started (Infact it was the other side. If there had not been a celebration, he would still have been untitled). It was a customary naming ceremony where the kid will be given honey and his nears will whisper his name in his ears. Honey was his first food other than his daily milk procedure. A huge gathering, much higher than we expected turned out to bless our kid. More importantly he had an opportunity to see his 3rd elderly generation and perform his ritual rights on her (Kanaghabishegam). Very few people get to have this opportunity. He is really blessed and of course we are too!

The first candle!

Below the first candle lit for the lil! He is one month old!

One month just flew away! April 12th 2012 9:57 AM - He completed 1 month, lovely 31 days! I still could not believe that I'm now a dad! We are slowly soaking ourselves in to believe that we are parents now! We celebrated our son's first birth month with a cake and both our families being with us.

So many changes in you! Your sleep times have reduced. You used to sleep for as much as 20 hours earlier. Now that has reduced to 15. You now know what is an object. You can track objects, you know your mom's smell, touch and her laps. You have well grown hairs. Your chubby cheeks has reduced a bit. You have grown in height and weight. Your tear glands have started their jobs. You have a tendency to look at corners of a room or the source of brightness in a room! You get distracted by even a small bright sticker :). You grab things hard, really hard. You kick hard, really hard. You have already attempted twice to jump out of our laps. These days you are not easily controllable. Your pinni (Saranyaa's sister) and thatha (Saranyaa's dad) are really doing a wonderful job of finding patterns in you and finding ways to console to keep you calm and sleeping!

Long Trip!

First long trip with my son! Well, it is not even a month done and already we have gone for a long trip. He is 21 days old! We wanted to relocate him from IT hub to Sunny hub (Chennai). Both of our roots are at Chennai so we decided that we will let him be with his granny's for initial few months. Started early in the morning (6'o clock) and we made it to Chennai in 6 hours. Wow! such a nice lil baby! Did not disturb us throughout the journey (touch wood!). But the moment we entered Chennai, it just started. Scotching heat and for the right timing (thanks to those angels), there was no electricity when we reached home :(. Used the traditional ways of hand-fan to control the heat for the kid. We gave the kid to my wife's maternal mother (granny), kollu-paati in tamil. That is something. She is close to 90s and when held the kid in her hand, I could see tears in her eyes and that is love in the form of tears. That one moment, I felt I had done one good thing in life! Now I know one of the reasons to 1.2 billion!

That was about out car trip to Chennai. But the trip I meant was about the last 7 days. Surprised at the quickness of things happening! My son knows how to grab attention. A sharp crying voice. He identifies his mom's voice. Even if he is hungry, if his mom is not around, he can be distracted with other games. But is he hears his mother's voice, there is no escape for his mom :).

Nature has been his recent love (as identified by us, read me). Whenever he cries, take him to balcony, show him nature, he keeps quiet continuously watching the sky. It takes a bit of time for him to realize that he was crying and then he religiously goes back to his earlier job. Other than mother's milk, few items he likes the most - Mittens, his bangles, his hand, his shirt, He has started tracking colors (atleast we think, we think we are sure). He can identify people walking and keeps his pupils moving with people. He tracks the red-teddy in a rotating set of teddy's (Sometimes even blue).

And today, he was trying to turn himself trying to rest himself on his tummy. He has not yet succeeded. But he had done 50% already. He was lying almost perpendicular to the ground and trying valiantly to turn. Hoping he turns himself soon!
